The Lehigh University project "Beyond Bars," part of the Lehigh Valley Social Impact Fellowship, addresses the problems and crises caused by the U.S. mass incarceration system, by shining a light on stories from the communities around Lehigh, and using theatre, poetry, and stories to illuminate these previously unheard stories.

Straight Ahead is a Philadelphia-based organization fighting to end "death by incarceration" and for parole of elder prisoners. 

At this event, we will read writings by Lehigh students and current and former prisoners from PA, and will facilitate conversation and discussion about the consequences of mass incarceration.
