Join Community Conversations About Race (CCAR) on 2/24 for What is a Microaggression?

Have you ever been in a position where you felt uncomfortable because of something someone said or did to you? Or have you ever said or done something that hurt someone without you even knowing? If you are curious…

Join Community Conversations About Race (CCAR) in a discussion about what microaggressions are and what they can look like on and off campus. We will cover basic definitions through a slideshow presentation, as well as go into a deeper dialogue of real-life experiences from people in the Lehigh community.

Core discussion questions include:

  • How do you become more aware of the microaggressions that you are committing?
  • If you realize your comment was a microaggression, how do you make amends?  How do you apologize to the person that was hurt?
  • How do you deal with family members saying microaggressions? How do you talk to your parents or family about their biases?
  • If microaggressions are often unintentional or unconscious, why are they called aggressions, as that word describes intentional and indeed aggressive actions?

This virtual workshop will be presented by Lehigh University students Kwynsky Miguel (she/her) and Kaitlyn Powel (she/they)
