The Episcopal Student Fellowship and the Office of the Lehigh University Chaplain invite you to The Cross and the Olive Tree: Christian Solidarity in Palestine, a symposium exploring the role of Christian theology in Palestine, both where it has caused harm and where it offers a foundation for truth, justice, and reconciliation. This event offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from Palestinian Christians and international movement partners working on the ground.

In the wake of three years of catastrophic violence in Gaza, described by human rights organizations and the UN Commission of Inquiry as genocidal, Christians worldwide are being called to confront how our traditions have contributed to destructive theologies about the people of Palestine. This moment challenges us to re-examine our beliefs and seek renewed ways of embodying the prophet Isaiah’s call to defend the oppressed, take up the cause of the fatherless, and plead the case of the widow.
