Paul Beswick is an EY assurance partner and the EY Americas leader for IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards). Paul began his accounting career at EY and spent 11 years there before taking a 2-year position at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) as an “accounting fellow”. He then briefly returned to EY as a Partner before taking a position with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2007 as a senior advisor to the SEC’s Chief Accountant. Paul later became the Deputy Chief Accountant responsible for resolving accounting practice issues, rulemaking, and oversight of private sector standard-setting, and interactions with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). He later served as the SEC’s Chief Accountant for two years (2012-2014) before returning to EY.
