About this Event
Nowruz (/noːˈruːz/), the Persian New Year celebrated on the first day of spring, is the most important cultural tradition for Iranians. For over 2500 years, Nowruz has symbolized renewal, hope, and community. It was celebrated even after Persia was conquered by Alexander on the ruins of a burnt Persepolis. During challenging times, celebrating Nowruz allows Iranian students to reconnect with their cultural roots, strengthen their sense of belonging, and support one another as a community far from home.
The Lehigh University Iranian Students Association (LUISA) is planning to host a Nowruz Celebration Night open to all students and members of the Lehigh community, with an anticipated attendance of 50 participants. Traditionally celebrated on the eve of March 20th, Nowruz marks the beginning of the Persian New Year and is a time when families and friends gather to share food, music, and cultural traditions. Due to the current circumstances affecting our community, LUISA has decided to hold the celebration on Saturday, April 9th at Wood Dining Room (111 Research Drive, Bethlehem, PA 18015) from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
