The Friends of the Lehigh University Libraries invite you to join us on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Packard Lab Auditorium (Room 101) for Libraries Do Good Work, presented by Emily Drabinski, 2023-2024 President of the American Library Association.
Amid surging book ban efforts, funding cuts, and attacks on libraries and library workers, it's important to remember the good work that libraries do. We put books in the hands of readers, connect community members to community resources, and advance equity in ways big and small. Drawing on more than a year of visiting libraries all over the country and the world, Emily Drabinski, President of the American Library Association, will discuss the state of these crucial institutions and offer strategies for fighting for the right to read.
The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session led by University Librarian Boaz Nadav-Manes. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
