Abstract
Transportation is an emotional landscape that we cannot avoid in everyday lives. Measuring, managing, and maximizing transportation happiness—people’s emotional well-being during trips—is an essential aspect of promoting “humanistic” (i.e., human-centered) transportation planning practices. This presentation will introduce the Daynamica app, a smartphone application that pairs objective mobile sensing with subjective human input to collect continuous and momentary data on travel behavior and experience. Using the app-generated data, this presentation will illustrate how trip and personal characteristics may affect transportation happiness in complicated and sensitive ways.
