DESCRIPTION:This in-person seminar reviews the minimum essential ingredient
 s required to build research computing projects on Linux platforms. Student
 s will learn the basics of Linux\, use shell scripts\, Python\, and the sch
 eduler on our high-performance computing (HPC) cluster to perform simple ca
 lculations. This seminar will outline the best practices for scaling and re
 peating many kinds of calculations. Participants are welcome to bring speci
 fic questions about their research for an office hours discussion after we 
 cover the quickstart material. All students\, faculty\, and staff with an i
 nterest in learning more about HPC and Linux are welcome to attend.
