Technical Writing: The Importance of Honing Your Skills to Increase Employability and Value in the Workplace
In this session, we will discuss the importance of technical writing and how it is utilized throughout various professions across sectors. At first, we might not realize how heavily writing is involved across a large spectrum of professions and the importance of honing this skill to better market ourselves. For those whose formal education has been heavy writing-focused, we will also discuss how to draw on this skill and integrate it into a career that increases our employability and value in the workplace.
About the Speaker: Emily Folenta, MA is a graduate of Lehigh University ’16, ’17, holding a Master of Arts in Environmental Policy Design with a graduate certificate in Sustainable Development and was a Community Fellow with Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Department of Community Health during her time as a graduate student. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Health, Medicine, and Society (Public Health). Emily is an affordable housing advocate and environmentalist with seven years of experience in affordable housing and community development initiatives related to strategic planning, grant writing, program and policy development, project management, and nonprofit management and leadership. She has worked for various Lehigh Valley nonprofits and is currently self-employed.
