The Lawrence Henry Gipson Institute for Eighteenth Century Studies
SUMMER WRITING FELLOWSHIPS 2022

The Council of the Gipson Institute invites PhD and MA students enrolled at Lehigh University who are working on dissertations or theses (or other relevant research projects) in eighteenth-century studies to apply for a summer writing fellowship. Grants of $2,000-3,000 are possible, depending on available funding. All students working on eighteenth-century projects are encouraged to apply, although preference will be given to more advanced candidates and to those with a strong record of research progress. The dissertation/thesis may be in any field of eighteenth century studies, but should focus substantially on that time period.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a one page statement of purpose briefly describing your project and outlining specific plans of the work you expect to complete during the summer, and a brief statement of support from your advisor discussing your progress on the project so far.

Recipients will be expected to present their work at a Gipson colloquium (or other appropriate venue).

Send application and letter of recommendation to:
incasip@lehigh.edu
The deadline for applications is May 27, 2022.
