Advising International Students: Working With the Office of International Students & Scholars

Approximately 10% of Lehigh undergraduates (and 50% of full-time graduate students) are international students in the US on an F-1 or J-1 student visa. While academic advisors are not expected to be immigration experts, there are some important things they should be aware of that may impact how they advise international students. This session will provide an introduction to the Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS), provide a high level overview of how international students maintain their immigration status, and give academic advisors some key takeaways to remember when advising international students.
