The faculty candidate is an Assistant Professor. The candidate's research mainly explores psychosocial and structural barriers to HIV and reproductive health services for underserved populations, with a particular interest in the intersection of gender norms and health outcomes in global and local settings. The candidate's current work focuses on the development of gender transformative behavioral and health system interventions to improve HIV care engagement and contraceptive use. The candidate received their Ph.D. in Global Public Health from San Diego State University and the University of California San Diego's Joint Doctoral Program in Global Health and their M.P.H. from the UConn Health Center. The candidate was a 2016-2017 NIH Fogarty Global Health Fellow, a 2014-2017 NIDA Fellow in HIV/AIDS and substance abuse at the University of California San Diego, and a 2017-2019 postdoctoral fellow in the Yale AIDS Prevention Training Program in the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS at Yale University.
