ABSTRACT:
2020 and 2021 has presented our Nation with unprecedented challenges. In the face of natural disasters, cyber-attacks and COVID-19, utility companies have kept essential systems operating. We will examine the importance of critical utility infrastructure.  The discussion will cover legal, regulatory and policy issues.  Come join us for this seminar!

BIO:
Susan Simms Marsh presently serves as Deputy General Counsel and Senior Director Regulatory Compliance for Pennsylvania American Water, a subsidiary of American Water, which is the largest water and wastewater service provider in Pennsylvania.  She is responsible for legal matters, regulatory compliance and customer advocacy.   She has more than 30 years of experience in several areas of law including corporate, acquisitions, public utility, rates, contracts, property, financings, and governance. Ms. Marsh service in state government included Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission where she served as legal counsel to a Former Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission Vice Chairman and assistant counsel in the Office of Special Assistants. Ms. Marsh also served as senior counsel with the Pennsylvania Legislative Budget and Finance Committee and has experience in the legislative process including analyzing and drafting legislation. Ms. Marsh is a graduate of Duke University and received her J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law. She has been active in professional and civic organizations at the local, state, and national level. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, National Bar Association, Association of Corporate Counsel and Corporate Counsel Women of Color and Pennsylvania Department of State Corporation Bureau Advisory Committee.
