ABSTRACT:  The increase in distributed energy resources (DERs) brings with it challenges in both modeling and parameterization of models used in transmission system impact studies. In this presentation, these challenges will be covered and few solutions will be discussed along with case studies showcasing the impact of DER on the bulk power system.

BIO: Deepak Ramasubramanian is a Senior Engineer Scientist at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in the Grid Operations and Planning Group of the Power Delivery and Utilization Sector.

Deepak joined EPRI in 2017 where his work is in the area of modeling, control and stability analysis of the bulk power system with recent focus on the associated impacts of large-scale integration of converter interfaced generation. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Arizona State University, Tempe, USA in 2017 and his M.Tech. degree in Power Systems from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India in 2013.

He is a recipient of an Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) Excellence Award, North American Synchro Phasor Initiative (NASPI) Outstanding Graduate Student Award, and the Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO) Power System Award.

If interested, please attend the presentation on Monday,  October 25th at 12:00pm EDT
