https://idisc.lehigh.edu/research/computer-visionAbstract: Recent advances in Generative AI and Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) are transforming the field of biometrics, enabling new possibilities in face analysis, identity verification, and synthetic data generation. In this talk, I will explore the intersection of generative AI and biometrics, highlighting how these models enhance facial recognition, attribute prediction, and other critical tasks. While these advancements bring unprecedented capabilities, they also raise concerns about data replication, privacy, and bias. I will discuss key challenges in mitigating these issues and present our recent work on LLM-based facial analysis, demonstrating how foundation models can be leveraged for robust and interpretable biometric applications. This talk will provide insights into both the opportunities and ethical considerations of generative AI in biometrics, paving the way for future research in responsible and secure biometric AI.
Bio: Dr. Patel treats patients with all types of gastrointestinal and liver related illnesses, but he specializes in caring for those patients with acute, chronic and advanced liver disease. This includes viral hepatitis and autoimmune diseases of the liver, drug induced liver disease, alcohol related liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), metabolic liver disease, liver disease specific to pregnancy and liver cancer. Dr. Patel is also passionate about evaluating unexplained liver test abnormalities and cirrhosis. Dr. Patel also has an interest in obesity and the metabolic syndrome and its role in the development and progression of fatty liver disease. Following additional training and board certification in obesity and bariatric medicine, Dr. Patel has participated in multi-national clinical trials for fatty liver disease and lectured on the topic at many continuing education programs. Dr. Patel graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, followed by a residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital Internal Medicine. He went on to complete fellowship training at Albert Einstein Medical Center and earned an additional fellowship at Drexel College of Medicine.
