This year's theme revolves around DisabilityIndependence.
This month we will feature the work of P.C. Rossin College ofEngineering and Applied Science faculty member, Professor Mooi Choo Chuah.
The talk is titled “AI & TechnologyResearch for Health & Well Being”
Summary: In this talk, Prof. Chuah will provide some motivations why AI &technology can be used to provide more scalable solutions for our health & well-being. Then, will highlight some of the latest work on using AI for healthcare and discuss some of the challenges we face in developing AI-based models for healthcare. Subsequently, Prof. Chuah will summarize some past work that the group has done in this area. Specifically, she will summarize how we can incentivize high-quality crowdsourced data for disease prediction models and how one can develop explainable deep learning-based medical diagnostic system. After that, she will highlight some research questions that need to be explored before we can trust AI-enabled healthcare systems. Next, she will discuss how technology such as smartphones, wearables, and VRs can be used to provide us with more effective tools in preventive care or health intervention for our health & well-being. Prof. Chuah will discuss some of her ongoing projects related to addressing mental health issues and VR-based intervention for special needs children/teenagers.
