DESCRIPTION:Does anyone write in cursive anymore? Can anyone read your hand
 writing? What about handwritten documents from hundreds of years ago? In t
 his 5x10 students will learn about the intersections between alphabets\, l
 anguages\, cultures\, and scripts. We will analyze unique manuscripts writ
 ten from the Middle Ages to the Modern period in languages including Latin
 \, English\, and Arabic. We will demonstrate how to transcribe sections of
  text in unfamiliar scripts and languages and attempt to translate the tex
 t to decode its meaning. Learn how to adapt to challenging and unfamiliar 
 forms of communication. This session will provide an opportunity to intera
 ct with centuries-old material and learn about the rare and historical mat
 erial available through the Lehigh Libraries Special Collections.\n\nHoste
